Mensch Schweiz!
Since 2011 I am the artistic director of the cultural project "Mensch Schweiz!". This steadily growing archive of art is a pool of manyfold thoughts, images & visions about Switzerland open to Swiss & Non-Swiss artists & authors. The Internet platform www.menschschweiz.ch provides the material of the annual book "Mensch Schweiz! Selection", which I will publish for the first time in spring 2013.

CITY OBSERVER
As a city observer I perform since 2004 literary and artistic studies of urban areas using various visual media. I am intensely present in the town site, integrating myself into the social life of the city & trying to understand the identity of this urban landscape and the circumstances of its inhabitants. I worked as a city observer in Venice, Miami, Zurich, Weimar (D), Verdun (F), Gibellina (I) & Zell am See (A). I am looking forward to integrating new projects to this series.

Neue Geschichten vom Herrn K.
Based on the famous short-stories by the German author Bertolt Brecht "Geschichten vom Herrn Keuner", I published the book "Neue Geschichten vom Herrn K." (New Stories of Mr. K.") in 2008. The book was recommended from the literary critic of the "Weltwoche Magazin" for the international literature award "Bachmannpreis" in Klagenfurt (Austria).

What is art?
What is art? I try to answer this question from time to time by creating installations, which discuss this profound philosophical question. My most recent statement from 2011 is: "Art is necessary to survive." The installation shows the emergency supply (240 food packages) for one person to survive one year. Other statements like "Art exists, if you believe in" are published in DuMonts "Was ist Kunst?" by Andreas Mäckler.

European cultural landscapes
European cultural landscapes. This cultural project examines on the basis of artistic-scientific survey and different artistic media the structures and development of relevant European landscapes. In some cases I use a special 360 degree imaging technology to create 3D views of the landscape. Until now I worked in Western Sicily, in Austria, in the agglomeration of Metropolitan Zurich & in various landscapes deeply transformed by military actions of WW1 & WW2.

The post-photographic era
Between 1995 & 1999, when the digital revolution (internet, digital imaging, multimedia) was at its peak, I had several international appearances, such as press-articles (see attached NZZ file), lectures and workshops in the whole of Europe, explaining artists & scientists the profound changes in the upcoming digital and post-photographic era.

Student works
As a professor for photography & digital imaging I have build up in 1995 and the following years the digital imaging section for undergraduate & graduate students of the Zurich university of arts. All these years as a professor for photography I was in charge of several projects using digital technology, as for example 1998 with a CD-ROM/multimedia project called "Swiss Desires-Swiss Disasters. In the same year I organized the first exhibition called "Digital Nite", where exclusively digital media works were shown.
